Hobrooke’s laughable claim
During his extensive and intrusive visit of Pakistan, US special envoy Richard Holbrooke said the US respected Pakistan’s judiciary and would not interfere with whatever decision it took against Musharraf. Despite the government’s harsh oppressive campaign against Hizb ut Tahrir in Pakistan, where even supporters of the party are arrested, Hizb ut Tahrir Wilayah Pakistan organised a protest in Islamabad on 22 July 2009 against the visit of Obama’s Special Envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan, Richard Holbrooke. In her ongoing visit to India, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton signed a defense agreement which includes the sale of sophisticated US weaponry as well as two nuclear reactors to the South Asian nation in a bid to modernize its military and defense infrastructure. The media have reported that 12 warships of the British Navy are on their way to the Bay of Bengal and two of them will participate in a joint naval exercise with the Bangladesh Navy and coast guard.
