On the day the government proposed a further increase to the period of
pre-charge detention, Samina Malik has been given a 9 month suspended
sentence having been convicted and branded a ‘terrorist’ for
expressing her ideas in writing and possessing books which are freely
available on the internet. She was not found guilty of inciting or
engaging in violence, essentially proving that she has been convicted
of thought crimes. The conviction of Abdul Patel, given a 6 month
custodial sentence on similar charges illustrates that hers is not an
isolated case.

A delegation representing Pakistan’s dictator Pervez Musharraf
consisting of Lt. General (retd) Javed Ashraf Qazi and Tariq Azeem are
visiting the UK over the next five days to defend the actions of the
former general and are due at the Foreign and Commonwealth office on
Tuesday. UK Foreign Office Minister Mark Malloch Brown’s meeting with
Musharraf’s envoys will be seen as a reward for Musharraf’s continued
prosecution of the US led ‘war on terror’ in the region, despite words
of chastisement at the Commonwealth summit only days ago.

Chief Coordinator and Spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh, Mohiuddin
Ahmed strongly condemned the murder of Hizb ut-Tahrir activist Hisham
al-Baradei by the security forces in Palestine yesterday (27 November
2007). He was participating at a peaceful demonstration organized by
Hizb ut-Tahrir, Palestine against the Annapolis conference. Police used
brutal force against the demonstrators which resulted in injuries to
hundreds and the death of Hisham al-Baradei.

Hisham al-Baradei, an unarmed activist from Hizb ut-Tahrir in Palestine , was today murdered by the forces of Mahmood Abbas in Hebron whilst demonstrating against the Annapolis conference. To silence the thousands of voices in opposition to the conference, police used brutal force against demonstrators and journalists, resulting in the death of al-Baradei and injuries to hundreds of protestors.

Although this week’s Middle East conference at the US Naval Academy
in Annapolis is being attended by more than 40 countries and
organisations, including Saudi Arabia, Syria and Indonesia, it has no
legitimacy whatsoever.
Commenting on the Annapolis conference, Dr Imran Waheed, media
representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "We do not believe that
the US and her subservient tyrants in the Middle East, have any right
to determine the fate of Palestine.

Chief Coordinator and Spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh, Mohiuddin Ahmed issued a statement today strongly condemning the arrest of the party’s deputy spokesman Kazi Murshedul Haque and demanded his immediate release. Murshedul Haque was arrested by members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on his way to the party central office after a peaceful protest meeting.
