Hizb ut-Tahrir will not be silenced by brutality against the party and will continue its programme of activities exposing the government and the imperialists

Dear Journalists,

Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh has arranged this press conference today in the context of government brutality against the party which has been going on for a month now. As you are all aware the government started its repression against Hizb ut-Tahrir due to the firm stance of the party in exposing the government. On 28 February Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh issued a leaflet regarding the massacre of army officers stating that it was part of a long term plot which was carried out by India and her agents inside and outside the government. The party also urged the people to resist the conspiracy to destroy the BDR-Army and take the government to task for its dubious role in the incident. The government arrested 31 party members and activists on March 01-02 for distributing the leaflet. They then arrested two party activists on 25^th March while they were putting up posters exposing the conspiracy and demanding the release of the 31.

The government is arresting and filing baseless cases against the members and activists of Hizb ut-Tahrir and at the same time the government is plotting to divert the investigations and save India and her agents. It was in this context that we announced on Thursday 26^th February our intention to hold a protest demonstration on Friday 27^th after Jummah prayers against the conspiracy and the arrests of party members and activists for exposing the conspiracy. According to our announcement we gathered in front of the national mosque to hold the demonstration. As soon as we started the police launched a brutal attack on our members, activist and supporters. The police charged upon us with batons and beat many of our brothers on the head with rifles which made 12 unconscious and injured over 100, of which at least 10 are seriously wounded. The police also arrested 10 party activists.

The government’s cruelty and tyranny towards Hizb ut-Tahrir is nothing other than fascism aimed at silencing anyone who exposes them and their imperialist masters. They are now spreading false news that our members and activists blocked the road and hurled bricks and stones at the police. The truth is that it was the police which had blocked the road before we even turned up at the venue. And they stared their brutal attack before we could utter one word, let alone throw anything towards them. The whole event has been captured in video by us and your camera crews. News of the police attack was aired on many TV channels. Bricks and stones are no where to be seen. On the contrary they show only one picture – the police brutality. All you can see is batons and rifles; and blood on the faces of our members, activists and supporters.

Dear Journalists,

Despite the government brutality, Hizb ut-Tahrir will continue its programme of activities urging the people to:

• Resist the conspiracy by India and her agents to destroy the Army-BDR;
• Take the government to task for its dubious role in the so-called BDR mutiny;
• Protest against the government’s ploy to save India and her agents;
• Work for re-establishing the Khilafah which will respond to the imperialist plots against the Muslim Ummah; and
• Demand the release of 43 party members and activists.

Today we want to inform the government through you that Hizb ut-Tahrir is not afraid of the imperialists and their spineless agents. The party only fears Allah (SWT), the Owner of the heavens and the earth. For the past 55 years many tyrants have tried to eliminate Hizb ut-Tahrir with their brutal torture machine. These tyrants and agents of Britain and USA such King Hussein, President Assad, Gamal Nasser, Saddam and Musharraf are either dead or throneless. While all the time Hizb ut-Tahrir is growing and expanding in many countries across the many continents.
